AFL crystal ball 2023: Experts predictions, premier, runner-up, Brownlow, Coleman, top eight, wooden spoon, big calls

Footy is finally back, so who do our experts think will go all the way this year? Plus tips for the top eight, Brownlow and Coleman Medals, wooden spoon and more.

The Cats won three flags in the space of five seasons between 2007 and 2011.

Despite their golden era of success with a team boasting some of the legends of the game, they couldn’t go back-to-back.

Now, in 2023, our experts are predicting the men in blue and white hoops to do exactly that.

Geelong has been tipped by five pundits to win the premiership again this year, followed by Melbourne and Brisbane who were picked three times each.

Interestingly, not one of our 11 experts think Sydney will make the grand final after their 81-point defeat in the decider last season.

Other popular picks were Marcus Bontempelli and Tom Lynch to claim their first Brownlow and Coleman Medals respectively, as well as the Hawks to claim the wooden spoon for the first time since 1965.

Carlton fans might not be happy with five tipsters leaving them out of the finals for the 10th straight season, while every expert was in agreement that Geelong, Melbourne, Brisbane and Richmond would make the top eight.

Plus Mark Robinson has gone out on a limb, predicting that Lance Franklin won’t make it to the end of the year before calling time on his glittering career.
