The 12th Victim Episode 4: Series Finale: Release Date, Spoilers & Where To Watch
Showtime’s serial killer documentary, The 12th Victim, will soon release an all-new episode focusing on the Starkweather and Fugate relationship. The show revolves around the youngest woman to be ever sent to prison who was supposedly innocent while her serial killer boyfriend ended up murdering 11 people.
Over the years, this case has led to the production of many TV shows and films. The 12th Victim, which is more of a documentary of their case, has been airing since February 17th, 2023. What makes this case of killings so distinct is that Caril Ann Fugate was just 14 when she was found involved in these murders.
The thought process of someone so young being involved in a gruesome crime is what the documentary tries to talk about in each of its episodes.
The 12th Victim was produced by Morgan Neville and Nicola B. Marsh. Both of these are talented producers who have been awarded an Oscar and Emmy in the past. Their style of portraying the story is through the usage of footage from movies and TV shows that centered around the Starweather and Fugate case.
The 12th Victim: About the Serial Killer Couple
Being introduced to each other by her sister, Caril Ann Fugate had no idea what was coming for her when she met Charles Starkweather. The duo was supposedly in love, but things grew chaotic when Charles ended up murdering Caril’s family, including her parents and siblings.
This happened in the years 1956-1958. Caril claims that Charles forcefully involved her in the murders he did out of spite, but there was no solid evidence at the time of her arrest.
She was only 14 when the Police caught up with the duo and imprisoned them. Charles was later convicted of multiple murders and was sent to the electric chair a year after they began the murders.
Before he died, he told the investigators that Caril was equally involved in the murders and killed many people with her own hands. To be so young and cynical choked many of the police officers, but Caril denied ever being involved in anything wrong.
Despite no evidence suggesting her innocence or guilt, she was given life imprisonment, which was later reduced to 18 years. After her release, Caril did live a normal life and was even pardoned by the family members of the murder victims. The series explores this case further and tries to understand the working of Caril’s brain as well as the law that imprisoned her at the time.
The 12th Victim Episode 3: Recap
The previous episodes have featured the case from Lincolnite’s perspective in the year 1958. The light that the show portrays Caril in is as the mastermind of the murders, with Charles following her directions. It then takes a new perspective, one that shows Caril’s innocence as she admits she had no idea that Charles had killed her family before abducting her.
The third episode featured Caril’s determination to make things right and prove to everyone, including the investigators, that she was not an accomplice but a victim of Charles’ murders. The lack of proof made Caril a murderer in the eyes of the criminal justice system. Her trials were useless but helped reduce her life sentence by many years. The episode ends with the announcement of Caril Ann Fugate’s release from prison.
The 12th Victim Episode 4: Release Date
The fourth and final episode of the Showtime documentary will be aired on March 10th, 2023. New episodes of The 12th Victim are released on Fridays, with each episode lasting around 54-55 minutes.
